About Wade Fathree
I am a graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Law, licensed in Oklahoma in 1990 and Colorado in 1992; I have practiced in the areas of criminal law, civil litigation and domestic and family law for most of my years in practice. I was the public defender in Mayes County, Oklahoma (while maintaining a private practice) then the Assistant District Attorney for Craig County, Oklahoma. After leaving the district attorney’s office in 2001, I have maintained a private practice emphasizing first criminal law then adding a significant practice in the areas of guardianship (both juvenile and adult) and adoptions. Because baby boomers are now senior citizens, I have developed an interest in meeting their needs by expanding my practice in elder law. I practice with my wife and law partner Deb in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Mission Statement
No area of the law has the potential for greater impact on an individual’s life than criminal law. Simply put, it is the only area that has the potential for imprisonment. For that reason, I believe that every single defendant deserves the most thorough, knowledgeable and prepared defense that I can give them. My years of experience as a criminal lawyer, including those as a prosecutor, gives insight that allows me to understand how the system is stacked against the accused and how to deal with that, as well as the legal knowledge to defend that accused.
My involvement with guardianships comes from a recognition that these guardianships arise out of some very serious problem that individual(s) are experiencing; a child who is the victim of some neglect or dysfunction (often addicted parents) that need help right now, or an adult, sadly, who has found themselves at a point where he or she just has to have help to carry on. These are situations that require compassion as well as knowledge and I am very aware of the need for both.
